Deflating

Consumer prices down 1 percent in October, the largest drop since the government began keeping score. And with this happy news, the Dow is up ...

Eh, not so much. Down about 215 at 230p EST.

As a general rule, if it's good for regular people, it sucks for investors. And vice versa.

Although to be sure, deflation -- runaway price drops -- isn't a good thing. If prices are dropping, then income and wages eventually will follow. Not so good.
